Monica Valdes Lupi
Monica Valdes Lupi, JD, MPH, joined the Kresge Foundation as Managing Director for Health in September 2020. With over 20 years in public health, she leads efforts to establish equitable health systems, ensuring well-being for all. Monica collaborates across Kresge teams, emphasizing equity and community partnerships to access essentials like housing, food, and clean air. Previously, she advised the de Beaumont Foundation on policy initiatives in tobacco control, racial justice, and health equity. As a Senior Advisor to the CDC Foundation, she guided COVID-19 response efforts for state and local health departments. Monica served as Executive Director for the Boston Public Health Commission, overseeing critical services, and as Deputy Commissioner for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. At the national level, she was the inaugural Chief Program Officer for Health Systems Transformation at ASTHO, focusing on health equity, Medicaid, government relations, and public health informatics. Appointed by the Biden Administration, Monica serves on the Advisory Committee for the CDC and co-chairs the Health Equity Work Group. She holds a JD from Dickinson School of Law, an MPH from Boston University School of Public Health, and a BA from Bryn Mawr College.
