New York Coalition for Doula Access
Doula Medicaid Provider Enrollment is Open!
NYS Medicaid provider enrollment is now open statewide for doulas who are interested in becoming NYS Medicaid providers!
Access to Doula care remains restricted to those who can afford it, leaving the most vulnerable without essential support. The New York Coalition for Doula Access (NYCDA) is dedicated to improving access for Black maternal health patients and low-income individuals with Medicaid, ensuring doulas are an integral part in creating equitable policies and standards.
Black maternal mortality rate is 5x higher
Doula-assisted births have lower rates
73.6% of pregnancy-related deaths
$1,500 in NYC and $1,350 for NY state
are the Medicaid reimbursement rates for doula care (NYSenate.gov) – and nearly half of all births in the state are covered by Medicaid.
Join the Movement: Championing Doula Rights and Healthcare Integration
NYCDA empowers doulas to use their voices to define their professional standards and advocates for increased access to doula care in underserved communities. We work to integrate doulas into healthcare teams and meet monthly to focus on key priorities, including equitable Medicaid reimbursement and establishing doula-friendly hospital standards. Join our Medicaid Reimbursement or Doula-Friendly Designation subcommittees by emailing nycda@healthleadsusa.org.
