Doulas play a vital role in supporting pregnant, birthing, and postpartum people by providing a wide range of services that improve health outcomes and reduce maternal and infant mortality rates for every parent. Recently, efforts to expand medicaid and private insurance coverage for doula care, alongside investments in community-based doula programs, have ensured more families are benefiting from this critical care than ever before. Despite this progress, there’s still more work to be done to ensure equitable access to doula care for all.
Join us on Wednesday, October 15 for the third and final session in our Redesigning Maternal Health series, where we’ll spotlight innovative approaches to broadening doula access, including actionable, community-led, initiatives to bridging doula access for diverse, rural, and underserved communities.
Our expert panel will share:
- Advocacy wins and strategies for increasing access to doula services through Medicaid coverage
- Best practices and lessons learned from closing access gaps through a community-based doula program
- Insights from creative initiatives which provide often-excluded populations with doula-level education trainings
