Principles for Building Healthy & Prosperous Communities

Designed to articulate shared values across sectors and lift up best practices, the Build Healthy Places Network developed a set of principles to advance the efforts of organizations working to improve health and well-being in low-income communities. Among them:

  • Collaborate with the community
  • Embed equity
  • Mobilize across sectors
  • Increase prosperity to improve health

As outlined in this introductory blog post from BHPN Executive Director, Dr. Douglas Jutte:

“The Principles represent the best of our fields’ priorities and values. They serve as a starting place to begin conversations and as a place to return to when there is doubt.”
